  • I guess it's time to update and as many of you know we went home for a few days between terms and had a good time. It was great to be with Laurie again and now AJ is living there also. It seems different to go home and have two there now. We spent time with family and little Mikayla is so precious and such a joy. It was good to sit by the fire and chat with Laurie and just have good connecting time. I miss those times. She is like a daughter to us.

We brought our camper back for this term and the first couple of days our water was froze, but it's been better now that we have straw bales around it. We are in our second week of second term and it's always hard to mesh the students together. First termers are missing friends and second termers are feeling left out. But I think we are getting there.

This week has just been a struggle again with things in my life that I know I need to let up to God and just being able to trust the outcome and then being able to accept the answer. It's so easy to say it, but so hard to do. I was reading the other night after having a rough day and the verse "Be anxious for nothing..." just popped out at me and God knew I needed that. Things that are beyond our control, we really have no choice but to let God work and I know he can do a much better job. Sometimes I just want to help him. Does anyone else have that problem? PTL for my patient husband even though he don't always understand "women" and my kids have been such a blessing. I sometimes think I learn more from them, then I taught them myself. Thanks kids!

You have a great day and lets learn to trust God more, when we know He can do more then we could ever ask or think. God's Blessings to you all!!

  • Here are a few pictures from the last couple of weeks at the Bible School.

Look at that big pan of potatoes he has to peel!

It takes that tub full of lettuce to feed this bunch. We have enjoyed having Erv and Jen here to help with the cooking and Erv does maintenance the rest of the time.

Here they are putting in insulation to keep out the COLD air that keeps blowing in.

    100_2423

We took out old scoreboard and put up one that works. Here is Erv keeping score while they play volleyball.

We had a big snow one night and the kids had a lot of fun with that. Snowball fights, digging their cars out, and all that goes with snow.

This nice guy came and scooped the drive open for us. we sang at his wife's uncles funeral and now he was doing a kind deed for us. PTL

This is the BIG weekend for tournaments and thats when all the staff want to run and hide. Almost more kids come then we have attending. It's always good to see former students, but it can be a stressful weekend. The weather is finally getting warmer the last couple days. PTL for that. Keep us in your prayers as we finish out the last week here and as they go on tour.

May your day be fashioned with joy, sprinkled with dreams, and touched by the miracle of love.  BJ

  • Well, we are in to our second week of Bible School and things are going good. The students are doing good and seem to be very studious. I can already tell there will be many tears shed when it's time to leave. They are doing great on their memory work they have to say to me:) Some get nervous when they get in my office and forget. Do I really look that scary? No, they do great. Here are a few pictures that I took.

The guys turned Derrick's car around one night and put it between the girls cars.

    100_2384

On Saturday night we made soft pretzels and some of the guys played there guitars and lots helped with the singing. Was a fun time.

Well today was my birthday and I had a very happy day. They students showered me with so much I felt very unworthy of it. Well, I didn't realize that if your on facebook everybody knows your birthday. Then at 11 we went to a funeral of a dear old man that used to live across the road from the school. The students were so gracious to sing for someone they didn't even know. After we were done eating lunch, Ken brought me three roses and gave me a big hug. That's enough to bring tears to a mom's eyes. Then some of my "other" sons brought me another bigger bouquet of flowers, a teddy bear and a mug. Then some other girls plastered my office with sticky notes with happy birthday on them and a balloon. Lots of calls from my family and friends. I had a very blessed day and Thanks to all who participated. I LOVE you all.

They even hid a note in my copy machine.

I found this quote I wanted to let with you about happiness. Just something to ponder!

As Christians we know we can be happy in the Lord. Our job--our goals-- our pleasure-- is to live our lives in such a way that the Lord is happy with us.

  •   Happy New Year Everyone

It's hard to believe it's 2009, but God has given us a brand new year to serve Him and lets do it to the best of our ability. When I look back over the last year and some of the things we've done and gone through, God has been faithful. We never know where God will take us and what He will take us through, but I can truely say when I look back that this has been one of the years when I have grown the most. We have enjoyed being in Co and working at the thrift store and Rick worked at the truss shop some. Being house parents was stretching, but we did enjoy it a lot. The girls were great. We came home before Thanksgiving and Ken came home to speak at my sisters church about his experience. He was like a kid finding all his toys in his room. This is him and Dewey (who he lives with) shooting his blow gun in the house.100_2299

We went to Ga. over Thanksgiving (Krista posted pics of that) then we came back to the Bible School and we did painting and painting and more painting. We painted 25 gallon of paint, but it wasn't bad until the last day. Even Ken helped one day.

    100_2341

Dawson wanted this animal scene covered up and then we painted the dorm rooms on the guys side. Lots of trimming.

    100_2355

Then Rick got some guys to reroof the house on Indian St. Nate Helmuth, Andrew Gingerich, Rusty Yoder, Dewey Yoder and Kendall. It was a cold two days, but they did a great job. Rick had to be gone, but I got to help some. Jon Knepp helped on the second day. It really looks nice.

    100_2345

    100_2350

    100_2353 The finishing touches.

Then we put some little windows in the doors in the back of the chapel that will be used for prayer rooms. The best improvement of all and Walter Beachy gets the credit for this, is the new chapel chairs. Blessings to all the people who donated them. the old benches got donated to the antique society.

Then for Christmas we went home or to IL for a few days then to CO to be with Krista for Christmas. We had some good family time in IL with my family and then with the kids in CO. We went with some of them snowboarding (well Rick and I watched), but we got to experience the blizzard they were having in the mountains. It was a fun time just to hang out with them. The thrifties were all together for Christmas and it was great to be with all my kids again. I do miss them. We love you all!!

I thank the Lord for my children and the relationship they have with us and most of all with the Lord.We are looking forward to being back at EBI and looking forward to what God will do this year in the lives of staff and students. We have very much enjoyed spending time with Dallas Yoder's family (which is who Ken lives with). they have been most gracious to Ken or Zoss as they call him, and to us. Jolene is just a blessing to all of us. Let us all strive to be a blessing to all we meet this year and just let God's light shine forth in all our lives and in whatever we do. If we come to mind we would appreciate you prayers. Blessings to all who read this.

  • Just a quick update. We are in Indiana at EBI and we don't have internet service yet, so I don't have much chance to be on here or even get my email. We have been doing lots of painting, but it's been going good. We are painting the guys side of the dorms and have three more rooms to go. It's really lonely when you go from a house full of girls to just Rick and I. I miss all my Colorado kids and am looking forward to coming back to visit. It rained the other day and Ken came and spent the night and helped us the next day. It was great just having someone around. Tomorrow we have some fine friends that will be helping to shingle one of the houses that needs to be done. Rick has to be gone, but this is when it worked for the others, so I will stay and cook and help what I can. We are looking forward to 1st term starting. It just don't seem right to be at EBI without students there. the halls are so quite. Krista said she will remind me of this when I fuss about so many people.

You all have a blessed Christmas and share the joy Christ with all those you meet.
